This paper underlines how Object Oriented Programming (OOP) used within an agent-based framework allows one to make explicit in a specific design pattern the cognitive hierarchy between types of agents and makes a family of a model tractable both for programming and for semantic purposes. We also discuss the transposition of tools, methods and concepts from one academic field to another, taking as an example the implementation of models with statistical mechanics features by economists.
