It is commonly thought that small couplings in a low-energy theory, such as those needed for the fermion mass hierarchy or proton stability, must originate from symmetries in a high-energy theory. We show that this expectation is violated in theories where the standard model fields are confined to a thick wall in extra dimensions, with the fermions ''stuck'' at different points in the wall. Couplings between them are then suppressed due to the exponentially small overlaps of their wave… Expand

Extra dimensions at the weak scale and deviations from Newtonian gravity
We consider theories in which the standard model gauge fields propagate in extra dimensions whose size is around the electroweak scale. The standard model quarks and leptons may either be localizedExpand
Collider phenomenology of extra dimensions
In recent years there has been much interest in the possibility that there exist more spacetime dimensions than the usual four. Models of particle physics beyond the Standard Model that incorporateExpand
Predictive Landscapes and New Physics at a TeV
We propose that the Standard Model is coupled to a sector with an enormous landscape of vacua, where only the dimensionful parameters--the vacuum energy and Higgs masses--are finely ''scanned'' fromExpand
Proton Decay, Fermion Masses and Texture from Extra Dimensions in SUSY GUTs
In supersymmetry, there are gauge invariant dimension 5 proton decay operators which must be suppressed by a mass scale much larger than the Planck mass. It is natural to expect that this suppressionExpand
About fermion hierarchies from doubly warped extra dimensions
Abstract We consider fermions propagating in the bulk of the geometry found by deforming AdS 5 via the back reaction of a scalar field upon the metric. This space is AdS for r asymptotically largeExpand
Warped domain wall fermions
We consider Kaplan's domain wall fermions in the presence of an Anti-de Sitter (AdS) background in the extra dimension. Just as in the flat space case, in a completely vector-like gauge theoryExpand
Electroweak and flavor physics in extensions of the standard model with large extra dimensions
We study the implications of extra dimensions of size R ~ 1/TeV on electroweak and flavor physics due to the presence of Kaluza-Klein excitations of the SM gauge-bosons. We consider several scenariosExpand
A phenomenological study of 5d supersymmetry
Supersymmetry and extra dimension need not be mutually exclusive options of physics for the TeV scale and beyond. Intrinsically higher dimensional top-down scenarios, e.g. string models, oftenExpand
Beyond The Standard Model: Some Aspects of Supersymmetry and Extra Dimension
In this thesis we have explored some of the phenomenological aspects of warped/flat extra dimensional theories and their interface with supersymmetry. We study the numerical impact of compactifiedExpand
Flavorful Supersymmetry from Higher Dimensions
We present models of flavorful supersymmetry in higher dimensions. The Higgs fields and the supersymmetry breaking field are localized in the same place in the extra dimension(s). The YukawaExpand
