A hierarchical hybrid inorganic–organic system suited for the recognition of aromatic volatile organic compounds on brushlike ZnO fibers was synthetized. The hybrid material was obtained by a multistep approach based on the growth of ZnO nanorods onto electrospun ZnO fibers (average diameter 200 nm). The obtained nanostructured ZnO brushlike fibers (overall diameter 2 μm) were functionalized through the grafting of a bifunctional phosphonic linker (12-azidododecylphosphonic acid) followed by…
Chemical Protection of Material Morphology: Robust and Gentle Gas-Phase Surface Functionalization of ZnO with Propiolic Acid.
TLDR
This simple and precise design can serve as a universal method for the modular functionalization of zinc oxide surface following the initial surface preparation and be further applied to thin films, nanostructures, and powders, where preserving surface morphology during chemical modification is especially important.
Templating Porphyrin Anisotropy via Magnetically Aligned Carbon Nanotubes.
TLDR
The preparation and characterisation of a novel three-dimensional organic material consisting of porphyrin arrays on carbon nanotubes embedded in an organogel exhibited notable optical anisotropy, suggesting an anisotropic arrangement of the p Morphyrin-CNTs architectures in the macroscopic material.
