We examined expression of two plant genes encoding coclaurine N-methyltransferase (CMT) and norcoclaurine synthase (NCS) in Escherichia coli from the Salmonella entericaprpBCDE promoter (P(prpB)) and compared it to that from the strongest IPTG-inducible promoter, P(T7).
