The lateral diffusion dynamics of rhodamine B (RB) in polyelectrolyte multilayer (PEM) thin films has been studied with single-molecule confocal fluorescence microscopy. The films were made with sodium poly(sodium 4-styrenesulfonate) (PSS) and poly(diallydimethlyammonium chloride) (PDDA).
