The identification of Kaposi's sarcoma (KS) clusters in sub-equatorial Africa (endemic KS, AKS) and the high frequency of KS in sexually transmitted AIDS (epidemic KS, EKS), have previously suggested a role for infectious agents in the etiopathogenesis of KS.
