Summary Herpesviruses related to MD were isolated from chicken and turkey kidney cell cultures and the characters of the viruses from the two species were compared. The turkey isolate produced more diffuse foci and larger plaques in monolayer cell sheets. On the basis of these properties the chicken and turkey isolates were distinguishable from each other in vitro. The susceptibility of avian cell cultures and embryonated eggs to the isolates were slightly different. No CPE or transformation… Expand
