Nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) is considered to be a hepatic manifestation of metabolic syndrome, and has been etiologically associated with insulin resistance (IR). The histopathology of NAFLD ranges between simple steatosis and nonalcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH), with or without fibrosis.
