Heparanase is an endo-beta-D-glucuronidase capable of cleaving heparan sulphate (HS) side chains of heparan sulphate proteoglycans on cell surfaces and the extracellular matrix; activity that is strongly implicated in tumour metastasis and angiogenesis.
