Hans Kuypers, from the start of his thesis research in 1950 until his untimely death in 1989, was always to be found in the front line of some newly activated sector of brain research, making adventurous use of new microanatomical methods for tracing neuronal pathways in the brain. Several of these methods he had invented or improved himself. His special interests were in the neuronal links that connect specific areas of the cerebral cortex with each other and with the brain stem and spinal…
