Henneguya pagri n. sp. (Myxozoa: Myxosporea) is described from netpen-cultured red sea bream, Pagrus major, in Japan. Affected fish displayed anaemic gills, an enlarged bulbus arteriosus and internal haemorrhaging in the pericardial cavity. Disease outbreaks occurred during the summer and the prevalence of infection reached 75% in August.
