The pathogenesis of hemorrhage induced by three purified components of rattlesnake (Crotalus atrox) venom was studied at the light and electron microscopic levels. Crude venom was fractionated by anion exchange and gel filtration in four steps. beta-Alanine acetate disk gel electrophoresis was used to demonstrate electrophoretic homogeneity. White mice were injected intramuscularly with 0.1 ml of a sublethal dose of hemorrhagic toxin. Gross examination revealed extensive hemorrhage 5 minutes…

Isolation of a hemorrhagic toxin from Mojave rattlesnake (Crotalus scutulatus scutulatus) venom.
Hemorrhagic metalloproteinases from snake venoms.
Hemorrhagic Toxins from Snake Venoms
TLDR
The history of the isolation and characterization of these toxins is discussed in an attempt to clarify some of the confusion surrounding these toxins and their biochemical activities.
Electron microscopic study of the effect of Egyptian sand viper (Cerastes cerastes) venom and its hemorrhagic toxin on muscle
TLDR
Investigation of the myonecrotic effects of crude venom of Cerastes cerastes and a hemorrhagic toxin purified from the venom at the electron microscopic level induced prominent hemorrhage in skeletal muscle in murine skeletal muscle of Egyptian sand viper.
New Proteases from Crotalus Atrox Venom
TLDR
The results of the investigations on several proteases isolated from the venom of Crotalus atror (Western diamondback rattlesnake) which are probably involved in crotalid venom caused hypotension and hemorrhage are presented.
