Twenty young (45 years or younger) and 20 older (55 years or older) adult patients with mild hypertension were enrolled in this study to compare the hemodynamic effects of labetalol versus placebo in two age groups. Ten patients in each group were randomly assigned to receive either a single oral dose of labetalol (200 mg) or placebo.
