Luminol-dependent chemiluminescence (LDCL) and nitroblue tetrazolium (NBT) reduction assays have been used to measure reactive oxygen intermediate (ROI) production by oyster (Crassostrea virginica) hemocytes, as well as ROI modulation caused by disease or exposure to environmental toxicants.
