OBJECTIVE Using transplantation of a clonal population of cells derived from a single hematopoietic stem cell (HSC) of transgenic enhanced green fluorescent protein (EGFP) mice, we have documented the hematopoietic origin of myofibroblasts, such as kidney mesangial cells and brain microglial cells.
