Helodermin is an amidated peptide of 35 amino acid residues isolated from the lizard Heloderma suspectum. Homologous peptides, helospectins I and II, peptides of 38 and 37 amino acid residues, respectively, have been isolated from the lizard Heloderma horridum. This group of peptides stimulates the adenylate cyclase activity.
