Sixty-four surface sediment samples and seven cored samples were collected from the partially closed bay of Jurujuba Sound, an inlet of Guanabara Bay in Southeast Brazil. Analysis of metals, including Pb, Zn, Ni, Cu and Cr, shows levels consistent with those typically found in urbanised and industrialised estuarine environments.
