This review discusses heat transfer enhancement of various nanoparticles in solar stills. The thermal conductivities of various nanoparticles, that is, Al2O3, CuO, Cu2O, ZnO, SnO2, TiO2, SiO2, Cu, Fe2O3, SiC, and multiwalled carbon nanotubes suspended in water with different volume fractions are analyzed. The factors involved in the thermal conductivity and distillation enhancement of nanofluids are discussed. This review is crucial because thermal conductivity enhancement augments the fresh…

Performance analysis of a contactless nanostructure in solar-powered desalination system

To address the water scarcity problem, solar desalination by using solar still can be one feasible solution to purify the water. Researchers recently developed thermal absorption materials fully and

Carbon-based Nanofluid Applications in Solar Thermal Energy

Renewable energy sources such as solar, wind and geothermal are proposed as an alternative to fossil fuels whose excessive use causes global warming. The most popular one of the renewable energy

Experimental study on the potential of combining TiO2, ZnO and Al2O3 nanoparticles to improve the performance of a double-slope solar still equipped with saline water preheating

Solar stills are an excellent option for providing freshwater to isolated communities living near the coast of Baja California, Mexico, and facing scarcity. Double-slope solar stills are simple and

Improvising the efficiency of single-sloped solar still using thermally conductive nano-ferric oxide

The experiment proved that the implementation of the usage of nanomaterial on the absorbent layer to improve the thermal conductivity of the basin area and thus the distillate produced per hour had a better productivity rate.

Effect of CuO, MoO3 and ZnO nanomaterial coated absorbers for clean water production

Solar energy is one of the most powerful sources for many sustainable applications. Recently, efficient water distillation has attracted significant attention. The fresh water productivity depends on

Investigation of nanoparticle effect on performance of solar membrane distillation

Due to the lack of freshwater, membrane and thermal processes as desalination technologies are attractive and the most promising approach to generate freshwater and diminishes the lack of fresh water
