We discuss astrophysical implications of $\kappa$-Minkowski space-time, in which there appears space-time noncommutativity. We first derive a velocity formula for particles based on the motion of a wave packet. The result is that a massless particle moves at a constant speed as in the usual Minkowski space-time, which implies that an arrival time analysis by $\gamma$-rays from Markarian (Mk) 421 does not exclude space-time noncommutativity. Based on this observation, we analyze reaction… Expand
Lyman-Alpha Spectroscopy in Non-Commutative Space-Time
Recently, there has been a certain amount of activity around the theme of cosmological and astrophysical applications of noncommutative geometry models of particle physics. We study space-timeExpand
Speed of particles and a relativity of locality in κ-Minkowski quantum spacetime
The last decade of research on κ-Minkowski noncommutative spacetime has been strongly characterized by a controversy concerning the speed of propagation of massless particles. Most argumentsExpand
Review of the phenomenology of noncommutative geometry
We present a pedagogical review of particle physics models that are based on the noncommutativity of space–time, $[\hat{x}_\mu,\hat{x}_\nu]=i \theta_{\mu\nu}$, with specific attention to theExpand
Group velocity in noncommutative spacetime
The realization that forthcoming experimental studies, such as the ones planned for the GLAST space telescope, will be sensitive to Planck-scale deviations from Lorentz symmetry has increasedExpand
The Hydrogen Spectrum in Non-Commutative Space-Time: Application to the Lyman-{\alpha} Line and the 2S-1S Transition

A fluctuating energy-momentum may produce an unstable world
Abstract Quantum gravitational effects may induce stochastic fluctuations in the structure of space–time, to produce a characteristic foamy structure. It has been known for some time now that theseExpand
Uncertainty of Velocity in κ-Minkowski Spacetime
A velocity of a point particle in the κ-Minkowski spacetime is investigated. Characteristic points of the spacetime are that the Poincare group becomes a quantum group with κ, which is a massExpand
Uncertainty of Velocity in kappa-Minkowski Spacetime
A velocity of a point particle in the kappa-Minkowski spacetime is investigated. Characteristic points of the spacetime are that the Poincare group becomes a quantum group with kappa, which is a massExpand
Wave Propagation and IR/UV Mixing in Noncommutative Spacetimes
In this thesis I study various aspects of theories in the two most studied examples of noncommutative spacetimes: canonical spacetime ([xμ, xν ] = θμν) and κ-Minkowski spacetime ([xi, t] = κ xi). InExpand
