  • The recent Indian Ocean Experiment (INDOEX) observed high aerosol concentrations with a sizeable soot fraction over the northern Indian Ocean. This aerosol mix substantially absorbs solar radiation, and recent modeling studies have proposed that the resulting atmospheric heating reduces daytime cloud cover.
