STUDY OBJECTIVES Obstructive sleep apnea syndrome is associated with a marked increase in the risk for cardiovascular disease. Increased oxidative stress and leukocyte adhesiveness have been implicated as fundamental pathophysiologic mechanisms underlying the increased susceptibility in these patients.
