Nephropathia epidemica, a zoonosis caused by Hantavirus infection (most commonly subtype Puumala) is associated with flu-like symptoms and acute kidney failure. Kidney manifestations are characterized predominantly by tubulointerstitial nephritis, hemorrhage into medullary tissues, interstitial edema, and tubular cell necrosis.
