H ans K6ssel quietly passed away on the morning of 24 December 1995 after two weeks in a coma following a heart attack. Prior to his untimely death Hans K6ssel was a Professor of Molecular Biology and Genetics at the Institute for Biology III, University of Freiburg, Germany. Hans K6ssel was born 20 December 1934 in Landsberg am Lech, Germany. He was blessed with talent in both music and science, and it was only after some hesitation that he chose science as a career.
