A sample of 404 adult men underwent assessment following illegal or clinically significant sexual behaviors or interests. Patients’ assessments included: administration of a modified version of the Edinburgh Handedness Inventory; recording of patients’ phallometric (penile) responses to erotic stimuli depicting adults, pubescent children, and prepubescent children of both sexes; and a tabulation of the numbers of patients’ victims, ages 0–11, 12–14, 15–16, and 17 and older, of both sexes. IQ, Handedness, and Pedophilia in Adult Male Patients Stratified by Referral Source
The results showed that the relations between pedophilia and lower IQ, lesser education, and increased rates of non-right-handedness were the same in homogeneous groups referred by lawyers or parole and probation officers as they were in a heterogeneous group referred by a miscellany of other sources, supporting the conclusion that the relation between Pedophilia and cognitive function is genuine and not artifactual.
Pedophilia, Hebephilia, and the DSM-V
It is indicated that hebephilia exists as a discriminable erotic age-preference by examining the agreement between self-reported sexual interests and objectively recorded penile responses in the laboratory.
Neurodevelopmental Correlates of Paraphilic Sexual Interests in Men
It is suggested that processes such as developmental instability and maternal immunity may play a role in variant sexual preferences among otherwise healthy heterosexual men.
Elevated rates of atypical handedness in paedophilia: Theory and implications
A view of ambiguous-handedness as less pathological than previously hypothesized, and of a neurodevelopmental origin of paraphilic sexual preferences are supported.
Neurodevelopmental Differences, Pedohebephilia, and Sexual Offending: Findings from Two Online Surveys
The neurodevelopmental theory of pedohebephilia states that sexual interests in children arise from early neurodevelopmental perturbations, as, for example, evidenced by increased
Physical Height in Pedophilic and Hebephilic Sexual Offenders
Adult men’s height reflects, not only their genetic endowment, but also the conditions that were present during their development in utero and in childhood, which suggests thatpedophilic and hebephilic sexual offenders were subject to conditions capable of affecting their physiological development.
Evidence of Construct Validity in the Assessment of Hebephilia
Examining convergent and divergent validity across indicators of hebephilia that included self-report, sexual behavior, and sexual arousal in a sample of 2238 men who had sexually offended indicated that there was considerable convergence across indicators.
A taxometric analysis of pedophilia
Sexologists continue to lack understanding about a fundamental aspect of pedophilia: do men with pedophilia represent a unique group distinguished by their sexual interests, or are they high-scorers
Diffusion Tensor Imaging of Pedophilia
It is confirmed that pedophilia is characterized by neuroanatomical differences in white matter microstructure, over and above any neural characteristics attributable to psychopathy and childhood adversity, which show neuroanatomic footprints of their own.
Cerebral white matter deficiencies in pedophilic men.

Intelligence, memory, and handedness in pedophilia.
Pedophilia showed significant negative correlations with IQ and immediate and delayed recall memory and was related to non-right-handedness even after covarying age and IQ.
Erotic preference in pedophilia
Self-Reported Head Injuries Before and After Age 13 in Pedophilic and Nonpedophilic Men Referred for Clinical Assessment
Investigation of the association between pedophilia and childhood head injuries showed that self-reported head injuries before age 13 were associated with attentional problems and with left-handedness; in contrast, head injuries after age 13were associated with drug abuse and promiscuity.
Retrospective Self-Reports of Childhood Accidents Causing Unconsciousness in Phallometrically Diagnosed Pedophiles
The results showed that childhood accidents that resulted in unconsciousness were associated with pedophilia and with lower levels of intelligence and education, compatible with the hypothesis that neurodevelopmental perturbations in early childhood may increase the risk of pedophilia.
Sensitivity and specificity of the phallometric test for pedophilia in nonadmitting sex offenders.
Results for offenders against women showed that those who had had sexual contact with the greatest number of women (consenting or nonconsenting) had the lowest probability of being diagnosed as pedophilic.
Sexual orientation and handedness in men and women: a meta-analysis.
The results support the notion that sexual orientation in some men and women has an early neurodevelopmental basis, but the factors responsible for the handedness-sexual orientation association require elucidation.
Handedness patterns in autism suggest subtypes
The results reveal a dramatic shift away from right-handedness in both autistic samples, due to a raised incidence of two phenotypes, manifest left- handedness and ambiguous handedness.
Fraternal Birth Order and Sexual Orientation in Pedophiles
It is shown that fraternal birth order correlates with homosexuality in pedophiles, just as it does in men attracted to physically mature partners, and may prove the first identified universal factor in homosexual development.
Laterality and prematurity.
Lateral preference appears to be unaffected by the side or extent of neonatal brain injury in children without major impairments, as well as in those with normal neonatal scans.
