These comments do not come close to fully answering the question of what moral message the production delivered to the audience. Nor do they definitively answer the larger question of how inward responses might differ to productions that reshape the play to varying degrees. After all, I can only speculate on the thought processes of the Chicago audience members, and am thus unable to draw firm conclusions. Nonetheless, I would venture that a “straighter” production can, and will, reaffirm… Expand
