An anaerobic bacterium, strain ZC-CMC3T, was isolated from a wastewater sample in Zhejiang, China. Cells were Gram-stain-positive, peritrichous, non-spore-forming, rod-shaped (0.6-1.2 × 2.9-5.1 μm) and catalase- and oxidase-negative. Strain ZC-CMC3T was able to grow at 25-48 °C (optimum 43 °C) and pH 5.5-8.0 (optimum pH 7.0). The NaCl concentration range for growth was 0-3 % (w/v) (optimum 0 %). The major polar lipids of the isolate were diphosphatidylglycerol, phosphatidylglycerol, several…

Adaptability of a Caproate-Producing Bacterium Contributes to Its Dominance in an Anaerobic Fermentation System
TLDR
Metabolic versatility and flexibility of the dominant caproate-producing bacterium with a small-size genome indicated that this bacterium can effectively exploit available carbon and nitrogen sources, which could be a key factor to promote its ecological success in a multi-species environment.
Enrichment Versus Bioaugmentation—Microbiological Production of Caproate from Mixed Carbon Sources by Mixed Bacterial Culture and Clostridium kluyveri
TLDR
The impact of bioaugmentation of heat-treated anaerobic digester sludge with Clostridium kluyveri (AS + Ck) on caproic acid production from a mixed substrate (lactose, lactate, acetate, and ethanol) was analyzed.
Whole-Genome Sequence of Haloimpatiens lingqiaonensis Strain P8956
TLDR
Whole-genome sequencing of strain P8956 yielded a 3,295,388-bp genome with a 30.7% G+C content, 2,917 protein-coding genes, and 95 predicted RNA genes.
Taxono-genomics and description of Haloimpatiens massiliensis sp. nov., a new bacterium isolated from the gut of a healthy infant
TLDR
Phenotypic analysis and whole-genome sequence analyses confirm the status of the new species Haloimpatiens massiliensis strain Marseille-P1935T, which is proposed to be a new species in the family Clostridiaceae.
Similar Methanogenic Shift but Divergent Syntrophic Partners in Anaerobic Digesters Exposed to Direct versus Successive Ammonium Additions
TLDR
The results suggest that long-term cumulative exposure to ammonia disrupted the AD microbiome more strongly than direct (independent) ammonium additions, and identified bioindicators with different NH4+ tolerance capacity among VFA producers and syntrophic VFA oxidizers.
Degradation and transformation of furfural derivatives from hydrothermal pre-treated algae and lignocellulosic biomass during hydrogen fermentation
Abstract The inhibitory effects of typical intermediate degradation products of furfural including furfuralcohol and furoic acid, as well as the transformation characteristics and the corresponding
Structural and Functional Changes in Prokaryotic Communities in Artificial Pit Mud during Chinese Baijiu Production
TLDR
The first combined metagenomic, metaproteomic, and metabolomic analyses of this brewing microecosystem captured changes in the abundances of specific microbial species, proteins, and metabolites during APM maturation, which are of great significance for the optimization of APM culture technique.
