A cladistic approach to the Neotropical Aristolochiaceae, based on 41 morphological characters, was conducted to evaluate the phylogeny of Aristolochia sect. Gymnolobus Duchartre along with the other two genera of the subfamily Aristolochiodeae sensu Schmidt (1935), Euglypha Chodat & Hassler, and Holostylis Duchartre.
