Despite the fact that tools for automatic stereo image matching are available for more than two decades, the collection of high resolution, high accuracy elevation data was mainly dominated by the application of airborne LiDAR systems. However, digital airborne cameras meanwhile enable the area covering acquisition of high dynamic image data with good signal-to-noise ratio.
