Features of attack on hops by the two fungus diseases, Verticillium wilt and downy mildew, and the two virus diseases, nettlehead and mosaic, are described. Methods of control are indicated, and the importance is shown of tolerant varieties. The use of such varieties against wilt is becoming a matter of great urgency, and breeding for resistance to downy mildew is being carried out.
