The soil is highly complex and constitutes diverse populations of bacteria and archaea responsible for the several soil functions and plants growth. Prokaryotic study of two agricultural soils was carried out. One soil surrounds an aviation fuel-contaminated lentic ecosystem in Inua Eyet Ikot village, Ibeno, and another surrounds an uncontaminated lentic ecosystem in Shelter Afrique, Uyo, both in Akwa Ibom State, Nigeria.
