Using clinical echographic and bacteriologic evidence physicians diagnoses pyomyositis in 7 patients ( 5 men and 2 women) who underwent surgery between may 1989-June 1990 at the National Hospital Center in Bangui Central African Republic. They identified Staphylococcus aureus as the causative agent for this suppurating infection found in their skeletal muscles.
