Hemophagocytic lymphohistiocytosis (HLH), also known as hemophagocytic syndrome (HPS), is a rare, life threatening, hematologic disorder manifested by clinical findings of extreme inflammation, unregulated immune activation and organ damage including cytopenias, hepatitis, coagulopathy and central nervous system damage.
