@inproceedings{Ahmed2007HELMINTHPO, title={HELMINTH PARASITES OF SOME FRESHWATER FISHES}, author={Muhammad Shafiq Ahmed and Tahir Iqbal and Amjad Mahmood and Muhammad Gulzarin and Muhammad Abid}, year={2007} }
Forty-three freshwater fishes (Heteropneustus fossilis 11, Mystus vittatus 16 and Channa striatus 16) were collected from various freshwater ponds in the vicinity of Lahore and brought to the lab. All fishes were examined for the presence of internal helminth parasites in the digestive tract. The study revealed that all (100%) H. fossilis were infected with nematodes, Procamallanus heteropneustus, only 6 (37.5%) M. vittatus were found infected with nematodes, Rhabdochona magna and among C…

Survey of Parasites Infesting the Nile Tilapia (Oreochromis niloticus Linnaeus, 1758) from Lake Alau, Maiduguri, Nigeria
- 2015
There was a significant difference between incidence of infestation and standard length and body weight of Oreochromis niloticus while there was no significant difference (p> 0.05)between incidence of parasitism and total length of the fishes.
Helminthes and protozoan of farmed pirarucu (Arapaima gigas) in eastern Amazon and host-parasite relationship
- Biology
- 2013
This study is the first to record the occurrence of P. macrorhynchus in A. gigas farmed in Amazon, and the number of I. multifiliis was positively correlated with the weight and total length of hosts, while the intensity of monogenoideans was negatively correlated with body weight andtotal length.

Prevalence and Diversity of Internal Cestode Parasites Infected Nile Tilapia (Oreochromis niloticus) and African Catfish (Clarias gariepinus) in Farmers Fresh Water Ponds in Kenya
- Biology
- 2017
The study concluded that the C. gariepinus are more attacked by internal cestode parasites compared O. niloticus, and suggest that farmers to keep more species with higher tolerance with parasites.

- Biology
The monogenean parasite was identified as Thaparocleidus sp based on the characteristics of the morphology and morphometrics of the parasite, which did not differ significantly from the previous descriptions of the same species discovered in other geographic locations.
