As we learn from the cuneiform tablets and papyri, for the people of the ancient times, ancient medicine could not be thought apart from the magic and ritulas. Having a long history as the history of minkind, magic has an important position in the life of Hittites too. In the case of birth and fertiliy, the importance of magic and ritulas increases. In this context pregnancy in the Ancient Anatolia is a case in which the ritulas are used rather than medical applications. Although the ritual practices had an importance, Hittite men knew to use drogs and used a special “birth chair” to help during the birth.
