The present study reports on food habits of snakes in Espigao do Oeste, Rondonia State (Southwestern Amazonia), Brazil. Snakes were recorded by time constrained search, pitfall traps with drift fences, captures by local inhabitants, and opportunistic sightings. The snakes collected had their stomachs and intestinal contents examined. Information on food habits was obtained for 89 specimens belonging to 31 species. The majority of the 114 items found (stomach contents and field observations…

Serpentes do Estado de Rondônia, Brasil
TLDR
There are gaps of knowledge on snake fauna in some regions of the state, and further studies are essential, because of the increaseing habitat destruction along the Cerrado and southern portions of Amazonia.
Feeding Biology of Boddaert's Tropical Racer, Mastigodryas boddaerti (Serpentes, Colubridae) from the Brazilian Amazon
TLDR
A significant relationship was found between both snout-vent length and head length of the snakes and prey total length, as well as between snake head width and the width of the prey, and between the weight of snakes and their prey, indicating a tendency for larger snakes to capture larger prey.
Sibynomorphus neuwiedi (Ihering, 1911) (Serpentes; Dipsadidae) and Potamojanuarius lamellatus (Semper, 1885) (Gastropoda; Veronicellidae): a trophic relationship revealed
TLDR
The consumption of slugs from the Family Veronicellidae by serpents from the tribe Dipsadini has been reported, nevertheless, it is reported the occurrence of P. lamellatus in the diet of S. neuwiedi for the first time.
Captive Snakes from Brazil as Carriers of Multidrug-Resistant Enterococci
Brazil has one of the most diverse herpetofauna and snakebites are an important health issue. The oral cavity of snakes harbored a wide range of bacteria. Enterococci have been isolated from animals,

Diet and reproduction of the Western Indigo Snake Drymarchon corais (Serpentes: Colubridae) from the Brazilian Amazon
TLDR
This is the first record of reptile eggs being preyed upon by D. corais, and there was a tendency for the juveniles to feed on elongated items such as lizards and snakes, but there was no conclusive results related to the ontogenetic diet.
Snakes of the Pernambuco Endemism Center, Brazil: diversity, natural history and conservation
TLDR
The PEC is the most degraded and least known region of the Atlantic Forest, yet it has revealed a high richness of snake species, including seven endemic species, which means that many species in the region may be in risk of extinction.
Epicrates cenchria (Rainbow Boa): Feeding Observation
TLDR
The Boid genus Epicrates consist of fourteen species belonging to the family Boide, however, just five species are recognised in the mainland, and field observations of feeding in E. cenchria are limited.
Factors that can influence the survival rates of coral snakes (Micrurus corallinus) for antivenom production.
TLDR
It is observed that survival rates increased significantly with the improvement of nutritional adequacy that included freezing food items before offering them to coral snakes, as well as the development of a new pasty diet to force-feed anorexic animals.

A SNAKE COMMUNITY AT ESPIGÃO DO OESTE, RONDÔNIA, SOUTHWESTERN AMAZON, BRAZIL
TLDR
A cluster analysis grouped together both closely or distantly related species, showing that both historical and ecological factors were important in structuring the assemblage.
Lagartos (Squamata: Lacertilia) em áreas de floresta e de pastagem em Espigão do Oeste, Rondônia, sudoeste da Amazônia, Brasil
TLDR
The collecting curve gathering the three methods used showed that after the eighth month of sampling no new species could be added, which suggests that the community was well sampled, and the adequacy of using two or more methods for sampling communities is indicated.
Comportamento alimentar e dieta de serpentes, gêneros Boiruna e Clelia (Serpentes, Colubridae)
TLDR
Major behavior differences among the two species were: rodents killed before being swallowed, and snakes were mostly swallowed alive; both species are able to find the rodents head faster than the snake one; the coils formed during constriction were also used to hold the prey, specially the last coil, while swallowing rodents.
Impacto do desmatamento e formação de pastagens sobre a anurofauna de serapilheira em Rondônia
TLDR
Forest converted to pasture affects several features of the habitat that reduce habitat quality with respect to these amphibians, including fewer places for reproduction, reduced food supply, loss of leaf-litter and soil compaction all with their influence on microclimate.
Eficiência de armadilhas de queda (pitfall traps) em amostragens de anfíbios e répteis no Brasil
TLDR
The results presented here indicate that pitfall traps are extremely useful to sample amphibians and reptiles in Brazil, especially anurans and lizards.
Influência dos fatores abióticos e da disponibilidade de presas sobre comunidade de serpentes do Planalto Médio do Rio Grande do Sul
TLDR
The influence of abiotic factors on the availability of prey and on the diet of the most abundant snake species in the middle plateau region of Rio Grande do Sul was studied and snake abundance was associated with maximum temperature and rainfall and Amphibian abundance showed a positive association with rainfall.
Diet and feeding behaviour of the Neotropical parrot snake (Leptophis ahaetulla) in northern Brazil
TLDR
Leptophis ahaetulla seems to manipulate captured prey before ingestion since most of the prey items were swallowed head‐first and it inhabits disturbed and undisturbed forest, and forages primarily on the ground and in fallen vegetation, where its prey items are likely to be found at rest.
