Four different membranes were used in conjunction with porous calcium phosphate granules to treat grade II furcations in lower molars of 6 dogs. Six months later block sections were used to measure the amount of regeneration and inflammation. The 4 membranes (polycarbonate, silicone rubber, polytetrafluoroethylene, and polycaprolactone) all gave similar improvements in bone fill ranging from 1.74 +/- 0.44 mm to 2.02 +/- 0.38 mm while control areas had only 0.34 +/- 0.12 mm.
