The current Internet is under tremendous pressure due to the exponential growth in bandwidth demand, fueled by the transfer of video consumption to online distribution, IPTV, streaming services such as Netflix, and from phone networks to videoconferencing and Skype-like video communications. The Internet has also democratized the creation, distribution and sharing of user-generated video contents through services such as YouTube, Vimeo or Hulu. The situation is further aggravated by the…

Video popularity metrics and bubble cache eviction algorithm analysis

The work concludes that the novel cache eviction algorithms introduced in this thesis provide an efficient caching mechanism for future content delivery networks and that the modelled Zipf-Mandelbrot distribution is a better method for simulating the performance of caching algorithms.

Low-latency resource elements scheduling based on deep reinforcement learning model for UAV video in 5G network

This work proposes deep Q network (DQN) algorithm based on the requirement of low time latency and high resource utilization rate to solve resource elements (RE) scheduling problem.
