The growth rate of acoustic tumors varies widely. An immunohistochemical study with Ki-67 monoclonal antibody was performed on a random sample of 21 acoustic neuromas. The tumors belonged to 2 well-defined groups: 1 with a short duration of preoperative symptoms (< 1 year) and 1 with a long duration of preoperative symptoms (> 5 years).
