Growth hormone (GH) is a major growth-promoting and metabolic regulatory hormone. Interaction of GH with its cell surface GH receptor (GHR), by virtue of receptor dimerization, causes activation of the GHR-associated cytoplasmic tyrosine kinase, JAK2.
