Specifically, the literature as a whole shows a major multi-way confound of a) research “lab” or locale at which a study was done, b) type of technology studied, c) type of group task and group composition studied, d) dependent variables studied, and e) research strategy used. Each “lab” studies its own technology factors, using its own group types and task types, and its own preferred research strategy, and even studies its own preferred subset of dependent variables.
