Group A streptococcus (GAS) is a global bacterial pathogen. [] Key Method We present the case of a previously healthy boy with GAS sepsis and meningitis. He subsequently developed a brain abscess and needed a prolonged course of intravenous antibiotics.

Group A Streptococcal Brain Abscess in the Pediatric Population: Case Series and Review of the Literature

It is suggested that if patients show symptoms such as fever, vomiting and lethargy, with contiguous infection such as otitis media, mastoiditis, sinusitis or meningitis, GAS brain abscess should be suspected.

Group A streptococcal brain abscess in children: two case reports and a review of the literature

Two cases of brain abscess due to GAS infection occurring in close temporal proximity in previously healthy young children living in different geographic areas of southern Israel are presented.

CNS Complication of Group A Streptococcal Meningitis in Children: a Comprehensive Case-Based Literature Review

There is a need for vigilance and timely needed emergent surgical intervention in minimizing acute hydrocephalus in children with Group A Streptococcus meningitis, and the results of a comprehensive acute neurological complication and outcome are presented.

A rare case of infant sepsis due to the emm-89 genotype of Group A Streptococcus within a community-acquired cluster.

The case of a 49-day-old male infant with invasive Group A Streptococcus infection characterized by acute otitis media and development of septicemia within a probably community-acquired cluster is described.

The needs for diagnostic imaging in cases of group A streptococcal meningitis in children: a case report and review of the literature

It is found that GASMeningitis is associated with higher mortality and cerebral complication rates compared to other, more common, bacterial causes of meningitis in children and clinicians are advised to routinely evaluate for possible cerebral complications through magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) scans.

A Unique Case of Bilateral Frontal Lobe Abscesses in a Young Male

A unique case of a 36 year-old male with a history of heroin abuse who presented with pan-sinusitis and bilateral frontal lobe abscesses, which enabled the doctor to narrow the spectrum of the antibiotics.

Epidemiologic features of invasive group A Streptococcus infection in a rural hospital: 6-year retrospective report and literature review.

The rate of invasive group A Streptococcus infection in the predominantly First Nations population served by the SLMHC exceeded the Canadian rate eightfold and is comparable to rates observed in low-income countries and among Indigenous populations in Australia.

Detection of anti-streptococcal, antienolase, and anti-neural antibodies in subjects with early-onset psychiatric disorders.

The simultaneous detection of all three of these antibodies could provide valuable information for the etiologic diagnosis of individuals with early-onset obsessive-compulsive disorders associated with streptococcal infection and, consequently, for prescribing suitable therapy.

Group A Streptococcus Subcutaneous Infection-Induced Central Nervous System Inflammation Is Attenuated by Blocking Peripheral TNF

This study provides new insights into GAS-induced central nervous system inflammation, such as encephalopathy, which can be attenuated by circulating TNF blockage.
