A Knickgiebel (Knickdach) or "Chinese roof" has been proposed for several archaic Greek temples. The evidence indicates that some buildings of mudbrick or wood, built in the ninth, eighth or early seventh centuries, may have had such roofs. Only a few of the stone temples did, and these temples can be dated to the first quarter of the sixth century.
