Gravity with perimeter action and gravitational singularities

title={Gravity with perimeter action and gravitational singularities},

We consider the perturbation of the Schwarzschild solution by the perimeter action. The asymptotic behaviour of the solution at infinity and at the horizon are calculated and analysed in the first approximation. The perturbation is characterised by the ratio of the Plank length to the Schwarzschild radius. It is demonstrated that in the modified theory appear space-time regions of the Schwarzschild radius scale that are unreachable by test particles. These regions are located in the places… Expand

Gravity with linear action and gravitational singularities
Motivated by quantum mechanical considerations we earlier suggested an alternative action for discretised quantum gravity which has a dimension of length. It is the so called "linear" action. TheExpand
Past-Future Asymmetry of the Gravitational Field of a Point Particle
The analytic extension of the Schwarzschild exterior solution is given in a closed form valid throughout empty space-time and possessing no irregularities except that at the origin. The gravitationalExpand
Cosmological theory without singularities.
A theory of gravitation is constructed in which all homogeneous and isotropic solutions are nonsingular and all curvature invariants are bounded, and it is expected that this model can be generalized to solve the singularity problem also for anisotropic cosmologies. Expand
Path Integrals and the Indefiniteness of the Gravitational Action
The Euclidean action for gravity is not positive definite unlike those of scalar and Yang-Mills fields. Indefiniteness arises because conformal transformations can make the action arbitrarilyExpand
Necessity of Singularities in the Solution of the Field Equations of General Relativity
The Friedmann solution of the field equations of general relativity predict the expansion of the universe from a singular instant in time. This paper considers the behavior of universes which areExpand
Singularities, horizons, firewalls, and local conformal symmetry
The Einstein-Hilbert theory of gravity can be rephrased by focusing on local conformal symmetry as an exact, but spontaneously broken symmetry of nature. The conformal component of the metric fieldExpand
Action Integrals and Partition Functions in Quantum Gravity
One can evaluate the action for a gravitational field on a section of the complexified spacetime which avoids the singularities. In this manner we obtain finite, purely imaginary values for theExpand

It is shown that singularities of space-time are inevitable if the Einstein equations hold, if matter has normal properties and if the universe satisfies certain reasonable global conditions. TheExpand
Vacuum Quantum Fluctuations in Curved Space and the Theory of Gravitation
The presence of the action (1) leads to a “metrical elasticity” of space, i.e., to generalized forces which oppose the curving of space. Here we consider the hypothesis which identifies the actionExpand
