The role of the gravitational sector in the Lorentz- and CPT-violating standard-model extension ~SME! is studied. A framework is developed for addressing this topic in the context of Riemann-Cartan spacetimes, which include as limiting cases the usual Riemann and Minkowski geometries. The methodology is first illustrated in the context of the QED extension in a Riemann-Cartan background. The full SME in this background is then considered, and the leading-order terms in the SME action involving…

The Standard-Model Extension (SME) is the general phenomenological framework used to investigate Lorentz violation at the level of effective field theory. It has been used to obtain stringent

### Lorentz Symmetry Violation in String-Inspired Effective Modified Gravity Theories

We discuss situations under which Lorentz symmetry is violated in ef-fective gravitational field theories that arise in the low-energy limit of strings. In particular, we discuss spontaneous violation

### Overview of the SME: Implications and phenomenology of Lorentz violation

The Standard Model Extension (SME) provides the most general observer-independent field theoretical framework for investigations of Lorentz violation. The SME lagrangian by definition contains all

### Einstein-Cartan formulation of Chern-Simons Lorentz-violating gravity

We consider a modification of the standard Einstein theory in four dimensions, alternative to R. Jackiw and S.-Y. Pi, Phys. Rev. D 68, 104012 (2003), since it is based on the first-order

### Lorentz-Violating Gravity Models and the Linearized Limit

It is shown that a gauge-dependent effective equation may be obtained from any “tensor Klein–Gordon” model under similar assumptions, and the implications of this work in the search for Lorentz-violating gravitational effects are discussed.

### One-loop renormalization of Lorentz/CPT violating scalar field theory in curved space-time

The one-loop divergences for the scalar field theory with Lorentz and/or CPT breaking terms are obtained in curved space-time. We analyze two separate cases: minimal coupled scalar field with gravity

We consider a model with Lorentz-violating vector field condensates, in which dispersion laws of all perturbations, including tensor modes, undergo non-trivial modification in the infrared. The model

The metric-affine bumblebee model in the presence of fermionic matter minimally coupled to the connection is studied. We show that the model admits an Einstein frame representation in which the

The renormalization in a Lorentz-breaking scalar-spinor higher-derivative model involving $$\phi ^4$$ϕ4 self-interaction and the Yukawa-like coupling is studied. We explicitly de-monstrate that the

### f(R) gravity with torsion and Lorentz violation

The Lounesto spinor classification is an important tool in fundamental physics, because it makes explicit the pleiade of spinors types, beyond the used in quantum field theory (QFT). In this work, we
