A bstractUnderstanding the Higgs potential at large field values corresponding to scales in the range above 1010GeV is important for questions of vacuum stability, particularly in the early universe where survival of the Higgs vacuum can be an issue. In this paper we show that the Higgs potential can be derived in away which is independent of the choice of conformal frame for the spacetime metric. Questions about vacuum stability can therefore be answered unambiguously. We show that frame…

Cosmological Aspects of Higgs Vacuum Metastability

The current central experimental values of the parameters of the Standard Model give rise to a striking conclusion: metastability of the electroweak vacuum is favoured over absolute stability. A

Vacuum decay constraints on the Higgs curvature coupling from inflation

We derive lower bounds for the Higgs-curvature coupling from vacuum stability during inflation in three inflationary models: quadratic and quartic chaotic inflation, and Starobinsky-like power-law

Preheating after Higgs inflation: Self-resonance and gauge boson production

We perform an extensive analysis of linear fluctuations during preheating in Higgs inflation in the Einstein frame, where the fields are minimally coupled to gravity, but the field-space metric is

The 1-loop effective potential for the Standard Model in curved spacetime

A bstractThe renormalisation group improved Standard Model effective potential in an arbitrary curved spacetime is computed to one loop order in perturbation theory. The loop corrections are computed

Higgs vacuum stability has important consequences for cosmology. In particular, we argue that if the Higgs vacuum is metastable, then the dark matter cannot contain a single black hole of mass less

Scalaron-Higgs inflation

Quantum corrections to quartic inflation with a non-minimal coupling: metric vs. Palatini

We study models of quartic inflation where the inflaton field ϕ is coupled non-minimally to gravity, ξ ϕ2 R, and perform a study of quantum corrections in curved space-time at one-loop level. We

Covariant quantum corrections to a scalar field model inspired by nonminimal natural inflation

We calculate the covariant one-loop quantum gravitational effective action for a scalar field model inspired by the recently proposed nonminimal natural inflation model. Our calculation is

Covariant Quantum Gravitational Corrections to Scalar and Tensor Field Models

Recent and upcoming experimental data as well as the possibility of rich phenomenology have spiked interest in studying the quantum effects in cosmology at low (inflation-era) energy scales. One of

Higgs mass and vacuum stability in the Standard Model at NNLO

A bstractWe present the first complete next-to-next-to-leading order analysis of the Standard Model Higgs potential. We computed the two-loop QCD and Yukawa corrections to the relation between the

Investigating the near-criticality of the Higgs boson

A bstractWe extract from data the parameters of the Higgs potential, the top Yukawa coupling and the electroweak gauge couplings with full 2-loop NNLO precision, and we extrapolate the SM parameters

Electroweak Higgs Potentials and Vacuum Stability

Higgs boson, renormalization group, and naturalness in cosmology

We consider the renormalization group improvement in the theory of the Standard Model (SM) Higgs boson playing the role of an inflaton with a strong non-minimal coupling to gravity. At the one-loop

Quantum corrections in Higgs inflation: the Standard Model case

We compute the one-loop renormalization group equations for Standard Model Higgs inflation. The calculation is done in the Einstein frame, using a covariant formalism for the multi-field system. All

Cosmological implications of the Higgs mass measurement

We assume the validity of the standard model up to an arbitrary high-energy scale and discuss what information on the early stages of the Universe can be extracted from a measurement of the Higgs

Quantum corrections in Higgs inflation: the real scalar case

We present a critical discussion of quantum corrections, renormalisation, and the computation of the beta functions and the effective potential in Higgs inflation. In contrast with claims in the

Spacetime curvature and the Higgs stability during inflation.

The standard model Higgs effective potential is computed including UV-induced curvature corrections at one-loop level and it is found that for a high inflationary scale a large curvature mass is generated due to renormalization group running of nonminimal coupling ξ.

Non-minimal Higgs Inflation and Frame Dependence in Cosmology

We investigate a very general class of cosmological models with scalar fields non-minimally coupled to gravity. A particular representative in this class is given by the non-minimal Higgs inflation

Vacuum stability bounds on Higgs coupling deviations in the absence of new bosons
