This article provides a brief introduction to graphical user interfaces or GUIs. The first section defines graphical user interfaces, describes interface components, and the different types of GUIs. This is followed by a short discussion of GUI design principles and descriptions of some tools for easily creating GUIs. The article concludes with some examples of GUIs that would be of interest to researchers and statisticians. WIREs Comp Stat 2011 3 119–133 DOI: 10.1002/wics.150

Perceptible affordances and feedforward for gestural interfaces : assessing effectiveness of gesture acquisition with unfamiliar interactions

TLDR
The hypothesis is that presenting automatic and animated visual prompts that depict touch and preview gesture execution will mitigate the problems users encounter when they execute commands within unfamiliar gestural interfaces and the need for a new framework to assess the efficiency of gestural UI designs.

Comparative study on correctness and time taken of test case generation using EFG and BXT techniques for GUI application

TLDR
The correctness and time required for these two techniques to generate GUI test cases are compared in this project by using the techniques in Paint and Present applications, and overall, BXT is better than EFG in generatingGUI test cases.

Applications of Virtual Modules in Numerical Analysis

TLDR
The significant finding reached by the researchers, is that the virtual model can be used to solve any systems of linear equation.

HoloFlows: modelling of processes for the Internet of Things in mixed reality

TLDR
HoloFlows provides a novel approach for end-user oriented- no-code -IoT process modelling using Mixed Reality (MR) technology and facilitates the understanding of the physical contexts and relations among the IoT devices and provides a new and more intuitive way of modelling IoT processes.

Culturally Sensitive Customization of the Coloristic Component in Websites

My study focused on website localization for online shopping, which has high economic potential in accelerating electronic commerce. I compare Russia, Finland and Germany to study how different

A conversational user interface for supporting individual and group decision-making in stock investment activities

  • Ming-Hui Wen
  • Computer Science
2018 IEEE International Conference on Applied System Invention (ICASI)
  • 2018
TLDR
A conversational user interface is applied to the development of a stock chatbot and communities are allowed to invite and embed the service in their community group and show that group users have more confidence in their decisions but the differences in forecasting results between individuals and groups were not significant.

Data Quality-Based Resource Management in Enterprise Service Bus

TLDR
A flexible and comprehensive data quality framework for managing resources in ESB that is independent of ESB platforms is presented and evaluated using five different scenarios within the wind energy domain.

Industrial Engineering and Management Integration Project Designing a Decision Support System for Container Stowage Planning on Barge Ships

  • Business, Computer Science
  • 2018
TLDR
The development of a Decision Support System for Stowing containers on a Barge ship is presented by extending the existing model and subsequently developing a user-friendly Interface for the Decision support System and connecting this to the model and database.
