Pattern recognition approaches are commonly adopted by many wireless sensor network applications due to their traditional effectiveness in detecting and recognizing events. Performance of a pattern recognition approach is directly proportional to the number of active sensor nodes. However, a high number of active nodes results in high energy consumption.
