Context. Globular clusters are representative of the oldest stellar populations. It is thus essential to have a complete census of these systems in dwarf galaxies, from which more massive galaxies are progressively formed in the hierarchical scenario. Aims. We present the results of spectroscopic observations of eight globular cluster candidates in NGC 147, a satellite dwarf elliptical galaxy of M 31. Our goal is to make a complete inventory of the globular cluster system of this galaxy…

Newly discovered globular clusters in NGC 147 and NGC 185 from PAndAS
Using data from the Pan-Andromeda Archaeological Survey (PAndAS), we have discovered four new globular clusters (GCs) associated with the M31 dwarf elliptical (dE) satellites NGC 147 and NGC 185.
Spectroscopy of Globular Clusters in the Spheroidal Dwarf Galaxy IKN
Moderate resolution spectra of four globular clusters in the dwarf spheroidal galaxy IKN obtained with the 6-m telescope of the Special Astrophysical Observatory have been used to determine the
Detailed abundance analysis of globular clusters in the Local Group: NGC 147, NGC 6822, and Messier 33
We present new abundance measurements for eleven GCs in the Local Group galaxies NGC 147, NGC 6822, and Messier 33. These are combined with previously published observations of four GCs in the Fornax

Abstract Only twelve of the > 76 Local Group galaxies contain globular clusters, showing a broad range of specific frequencies. Here we summarize the properties of these globular cluster systems.
Observational Properties of Globular Clusters in Dwarf Galaxies
We analyse evolutionary parameters of globular clusters in dwarf galaxies obtained in our medium-resolution spectroscopic observations, and their connection with the properties of the host galaxies.
SAO RAS 6-m telescope spectroscopic observations of globular clusters in nearby galaxies
We present the results of medium-resolution spectroscopy of 28 globular clusters (GCs) in six nearby galaxies of different luminosities and morphological types, situated in M33 (15 objects), M31
We present a statistical analysis of the properties of a large sample of dynamically hot old stellar systems, from globular clusters (GCs) to giant ellipticals, which was performed in order to
The outer halo globular cluster system of M31 – III. Relationship to the stellar halo
We utilize the final catalogue from the Pan-Andromeda Archaeological Survey to investigate the links between the globular cluster system and field halo in M31 at projected radii Rproj = 25-150 kpc.
Star formation history of barred disc galaxies
We present the first results of a pilot study aimed at understanding the influence of bars on the evolution of galaxy discs through the study of their stellar content. We examine here the kinematics,
Looking for a link between Gas Content of Dwarf Galaxies and Properties of their Globular Cluster systems
Star clusters are fundamental building blocks of galaxies. Their formation is related to the density and pressure in progenitor molecular clouds and their environmental conditions. To understand

The Kinematics and Metallicity of the M31 Globular Cluster System
With the ultimate aim of distinguishing between various models describing the formation of galaxy halos (e.g., radial or multiphase collapse and random mergers), we have completed a spectroscopic
A Comparison of Elemental Abundance Ratios in Globular Clusters, Field Stars, and Dwarf Spheroidal Galaxies
We have compiled a sample of globular clusters with high-quality stellar abundances from the literature to compare to the chemistries of stars in the Galaxy and in dwarf spheroidal galaxies. Of the
Stellar populations in Local Group dwarf elliptical galaxies. I: NGC 147
A color-magnitude diagram of NGC 147 to an I magnitude of 23 is presented. The stellar population in the outer parts of this elliptical galaxy resembles that of the globular clusters of the Milky
The Efficiency of Globular Cluster Formation
The specific frequencies of globular cluster systems, SN ∝ tot/LV,gal ∝ Mgcs/Mstars, are discussed in terms of their connection to the efficiency of globular cluster formation in galaxy halos, which
VLT Spectroscopy of Globular Clusters in Low Surface Brightness Dwarf Galaxies
We present VLT/FORS2 spectroscopic observations of globular clusters (GCs) in five low surface brightness dwarf galaxies: KK 211 and KK 221, both dwarf spheroidal satellites (dSph) of NGC 5128; dSph
A census of AGB stars in Local Group galaxies: II. NGC 185 and NGC 147
We present results of our ongoing photometric survey of Local Group galaxies, using a four filter technique based on the method of Wing (1971) to identify and characterise the late-type stellar
The chemical content of nearby galaxies from planetary nebulae: NGC 147
We report the results of spectroscopic observations, obtained with the Gemini Multi-Object Spectrograph, of eight planetary nebulae (PNe) in the dwarf spheroidal (dSph) galaxy NGC 147, a companion of
We derive ages, metallicities, and abundance ratios ([α/Fe]) from the integrated spectra of 23 globular clusters in M31 by employing multivariate fits to two different stellar population models. We
Kinematics and stellar populations of the dwarf elliptical galaxy IC 3653
We present the first 3D observations of a diffuse elliptical galaxy (dE). The good quality data (S/N up to 40) reveal the kinematical signature of an embedded stellar disc, reminiscent of what is
The Evolved Stellar Content of NGC 147, NGC 185, and NGC 205
Broadband near-infrared images are used to probe the photometric properties of the brightest asymptotic giant branch (AGB) stars within 2' of the centers of the dwarf elliptical galaxies NGC 147, NGC
