This paper presents new data about Early Permian (Cisuralian) strata, palynostratigraphy and absolute dating from the Copacabana Formation in central Bolivia. Recent stratigraphic and palynologic data from marine and transitional rocks at Apillapampa refine the age of Cisuralian palynomorphs in South America. Twelve samples interbedded with five volcanic ashes (processed and productive) yielded 94 palynomorph species arranged in two informal palynoassemblages: the lower assemblage Vittatina… Expand
A new palynological assemblage (Carboniferous) from the Chacoparaná Basin, Western Gondwana, and revision of the biostratigraphic scheme
Abstract A new palynozone for the upper Serpukhovian–Bashkirian (uppermost Mississippian–lower Pennsylvanian) strata of the Chacoparana Basin (Argentina) is formally proposed based on palynologicalExpand
Late Pennsylvanian and Early Cisuralian palynofloras from the Rajmahal Basin, eastern India, and their chronological significance
ABSTRACT This work documents for the first time a palynological assemblage in the Rajmahal Basin, tentatively considered probable youngest Late Pennsylvanian assemblage, which was hitherto consideredExpand
Record of a Pennsylvanian-Cisuralian marine transgression, southern Bolivia: A short-lived event in western Gondwana?
Abstract Largely terrestrial Pennsylvanian strata (Machareti and Mandiyuti groups) in Bolivia and northern Argentina contain a brief marine incursion. Dominated by glacio-fluvial and glacialExpand
Re-evaluation of the Permian macrofossils from the Parnaíba Basin: biostratigraphic, palaeoenvironmental and palaeogeographical implications
Abstract Although Permian fossils have been known from the Parnaíba Basin for two centuries, and some faunal and flora elements are well known worldwide, research on the fossil assemblages from thisExpand

A palynological study of the Yacimiento Los Reyunos Formation (San Rafael Block) Argentina was carried out in order to correlate the palynological data with other Permian assemblages and biozonesExpand
Diagenesis of the Pennsylvanian -Lower Permian Copacabana Formation, western Bolivian Altiplano
Abstract This contribution presents the diagenetic evolution of limestone deposits in the Copacabana Formation that occurs in the northern Altiplano, in the Lake Titicaca area of western Bolivia. TheExpand
Timing of the Late Palaeozoic glaciation in western Gondwana: New ages and correlations from Paganzo and Paraná basins
Abstract During the Late Palaeozoic, the Gondwana supercontinent formed an extensive Southern Hemisphere landmass that was affected by multiple glacial episodes, known collectively as the LateExpand
The Vittatina costabilis Zone revisited: New characterization and implications on the Pennsylvanian-Permian icehouse-to-greenhouse turnover in the Paraná Basin, Western Gondwana
Abstract The accuracy of the radiometric ages for the Pennsylvanian-Permian section of the Parana Basin has been progressively increased in the past two decades, allowing a better chronostratigraphicExpand
New palynostratigraphic data of the Irati (Assistência Member) and the Corumbataí formations, Paraná Basin, Brazil, and correlation with other south American basins
Abstract This research presents the palynostratigraphy of organic-rich shales from the Irati and the Corumbatai formations, Parana Basin (PB), Southeastern Brazil, as part of an unconventionalExpand
A new tonstein occurrence in the eastern Paraná Basin associated with the Figueira coalfield (Paraná, Brazil): Palynostratigraphy and U-Pb radiometric dating integration
Abstract Tonsteins are layers generated from volcanic ash fall and constitute an important chronostratigraphic marker that allows the correlation between layers in and out of the sedimentary basin,Expand

Palynostratigraphy and palaeogeography of a Palaeozoic sequence in the Hassanakdar area, Central Alborz Range, northern Iran
Abstract A total of 129 samples from the Palaeozoic Lashkarak, Geirud and Dorud formations of the Hassanakdar area were examined palynologically in order to determine more precisely theExpand
A new U–Pb zircon age dating and palynological data from a Lower Permian section of the southernmost Paraná Basin, Brazil: Biochronostratigraphical and geochronological implications for Gondwanan correlations
Abstract Index species useful for correlations with the International Stratigraphical Column are rare or absent in the Pennsylvanian–Permian strata of the Parana Basin in Brazil, preventing accuracyExpand
