A large number of Iranian youth left Iran for Japan hoping to fi nd high-paying jobs at the outset, and for the duration, of the bubble economy. When the bubble burst and unemployment began to increase in Japan, most of these workers returned to Iran, while some migrated to Canada, Australia, Thailand, Singapore and other Asian countries.
